Ferg's Finds
This is a short weekly email that covers a few things I’ve found interesting during the week.

Great piece making the case for why mainstream media is pushing the China bear case so hard: Making Sense Of The China Meltdown Story
Podcast/Video
I’ve always enjoyed the Decouple podcast, but this one in particular gave me some food for thought: Decouple Media: Is this the end of economic growth?

“Become comfortable with being uncomfortable.”
I first heard this when training BJJ, but I think it is just as relevant to investing and life.

Paulo always has timely takes, and this ties nicely with the above article.
I’m annoyed I didn’t pick up on this earlier, as they have been pushing this hard.
Charts
This is the tailwind to the energy thesis in a chart. The rapid realisation by the market (not yet the public) that wind and solar aren’t economic, and the 100% renewable projections aren’t going to happen.
Something I'm Pondering
After Louis's China piece, I'm pondering what other narratives are currently being fed to us that I might have yet to pick up on.
I re-read this great piece by Epsilon theory: Why Am I Reading This NOW?
Cheers,

P.S. If you’re interested in my story and why I started this Substack, you can read the story here.
I remember when The Narrative was how wonderful the Chinese system was, how it was great that they could just decide things, and make them happen. No pesky voters, process, elections ... none of that. The global big shots wrote about it in all the usual publications, including The Economist.
Then in 2015 Xi unequivocally told Them that no, they weren't welcome come over and introduce the 'American System' (after America had been completely hollowed out by globalism) into China, and they could go piss up a rope.
Since then the coverage has been almost uniformly bad. Great post and great link. That Epsilon piece is a fantastic reminder.
"Why am I reading this now?" is such a good question to constantly keep in the back of your mind. Also, that chart about renewable energy was fascinating. Thanks for sharing these finds!
